"Outside the Box"

Raymond St. Arnaud’s shift to digital art marked a turning point in his career. Initially drawn to painting and printmaking, he moved away from traditional media due to their costs, toxic materials, and studio demands. The arrival of affordable digital printers and archival inks in 1998 allowed him to break free from the darkroom and embrace a more flexible, accessible form of art-making.

His first digital project, Outside The Box, symbolizes this freedom. Inspired by the metaphor of a recovering cat retreating to safety, the phrase reflects his departure from artistic constraints. With digital tools and internet-based exhibition opportunities, St. Arnaud has expanded his reach and continues to explore new creative frontiers outside the traditional gallery system.
